Crystals and Gems
In our reading for class today, there was a section on crystals and gems. I have always been intrigued by this topic, especially within the last few years. Before I graduated high school, I had some friends who completely believed in the power of manifestation and mindful thinking. At the time, I was experiencing some relationship issues and felt at a loss for what to do to solve this conflict. My friend introduced to me the idea of manifesting the things you desire in this life. As an example, she said, if you want to find love, you should convince yourself and your mind that you already have the love that you are seeking. Once your mind is convinced that need is already abundant in your life, it will begin to actually flow to you.
To a certain extent, I do believe in this principle. Our minds have immense power, and just by thinking about what you want, your brain may unconsciously make you behave in a way that will bring those desires into your life. With this ideology, though, crystals are a popular way to bring energies into one's life that will help them in accomplishing their goals. To learn more about this, I decided to watch a YouTube video about it titled “Crystals for Manifesting”
Shayla Quinn mentions that each crystal has its own vibration frequency, energy field, and that specific crystals and be used for particular ailments or desires. She encourages viewers to also choose crystals based on whether they shift their internal energy, such as you being drawn to them for their beauty. This, in her words, is a sign that your intuition is saying that you connect with that gem. However, before you go out to intuitively pick out stones, you have to get clear about what your intentions are and what you are trying to attract. Not only this, but you should focus on how achieving that objective will make you feel. This is a huge component of actually making change happen. Shayla says this will help you be attracted to the right crystals when you go shopping. She then goes through her personal collection of gems, which includes:
Beyond these ideologies, I am attracted to crystals and gems for their sheer beauty. My grandmother has always worn jewelry with rubies in it, and ever since I was small I loved looking at them. Our book references the specific power brought by rubies,

- Rose quartz, pink chalcedony, pink opal, and pink calcite for love
- Jade and pyrite for wealth and abundance
- Citrine, cracked fire agate, and honey calcite to amplify manifestations
- Clear quartz, serpentine, tangerine quartz, and amethyst for intuition activation
Beyond these ideologies, I am attracted to crystals and gems for their sheer beauty. My grandmother has always worn jewelry with rubies in it, and ever since I was small I loved looking at them. Our book references the specific power brought by rubies,
“Ruby is associated with energy, action, hope, and increasing motivation and passion. It is also said to strengthen the heart both physically and emotionally”.I have also worn peridot for some time, mostly because it is my birthstone. According to FireMountainGems.com, peridot is
"Known as the stone of compassion, peridot is believed to bring good health, restful sleep and peace to relationships by balancing emotions and mind. This friendly bright green stone also has the uncanny ability to inspire eloquence and creativity; it also brings delight and good cheer.”Now that I reflect on it, I began wearing peridot more during an emotionally volatile time of my life. Maybe that was my mind’s way of wanting to find peace and balance! I can definitely say I am in a much better place now and I do wear my peridot faithfully, so maybe it has made a difference in my life.

Thanks for this blog post, Maddie. I was fascinated by your discussion and watched the video. That was quite a learning experience. I had never imagined crystals needing to be cleansed with sage smoke. I had read once that crystals received vibrations but not that they emit their own vibrations. Thanks for educating me.
